WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") currently operates a multitude of trolleys and routes in the Allapattah, Biscayne, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Coral Way, Downtown, Health District, Little Havana, Overtown, Wynwood, and Little Haiti areas; and WHEREAS, the trolleys are used by both locals and tourists alike; and WHEREAS, Transit Alliance is a non-profit organization that advocates for better public transit throughout Miami -Dade County ("County"); and WHEREAS, Transit Alliance has embarked on its "Better Bus Project" campaign to propose a redesigned County bus system route map to better serve the residents of the County; and WHEREAS, the reports from the Better Bus Project envision changes to the City's trolley routes in order to better integrate the same with the County's transportation system; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-33(f) of the Code of the City of Miami Florida, as amended, the City Commission, by a majority vote, deems this Resolution to be of an emergency nature; and WHEREAS, the City Commission supports the objectives of the Better Bus Project as it pertains to transportation interconnectivity; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission hereby supports Transit Alliance's Better Bus Project's objectives concerning interconnectivity of the City's trolleys with the County's transportation system. Section 3. The City Manager is directed to collaborate with the City Commission and Transit Alliance to explore how to achieve the objectives proposed by the Better Bus Project. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
