Background of Item:
The Florida Department of Health is authorized by Chapter 401.113 Statutes to provide
grants to local agencies for the purpose of improving and expanding pre -hospital
emergency medical services ("EMS") within The State of Florida. The purpose of this
grant is to assist the Department of Fire -Rescue in improving and expanding EMS by
purchasing ten (10) automated CPR devices.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS
IN THE AMOUNT OF $112,500.00 CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARDED FROM
THE STATE OF FLORIDA'S DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES ("EMS") TRUST FUND, TITLED "EMS MATCHING GRANT AWARD —
M7034," WITH A REQUIRED MATCH FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $37,496.25, FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $149,996.25;
ALLOCATING THE CITY'S MATCHING FUNDS FROM ACCOUNT NO.
00001.184010.899000.0000.00000 FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING MAY 3, 2019
THROUGH JUNE 30, 2020; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, ALL IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO
IMPLEMENT AND COMPLY WITH SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in the amount of
$112,500.00 from the State of Florida's Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services
("EMS") Trust Fund to provide grant funds to local agencies, to improve and expand pre -hospital
EMS programs ("Program"); and
WHEREAS, matching funds from the City in the amount of $37,496.25 are required as a
condition of said grant and are available from Account No. 00001.184010.899000.0000.00000;
and
WHEREAS, the City's Department of Fire -Rescue intends to improve and expand EMS
by purchasing ten (10) automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation ("CPR") devices; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to
accept said grant, allocate the matching funds, and execute any and all necessary documents,
all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement and comply with said grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Grant funds in the amount of $112,500.00, consisting of a grant awarded by
the EMS Trust Fund, are accepted, with required matching funds from the City, in an amount
not to exceed $37,496.25, for a total amount of $149,996.25.
Section 3. The City's required matching funds, in an amount not to exceed $37,496.25,
are allocated from Account No. 00001.184010.899000.0000.00000.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to accept said grant from the State and to
execute the necessary documents, all in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said
purpose.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
2 If the mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from
the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
