WHEREAS, 100 Resilient Cities Initiative ("100RC"), a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Inc. ("Grantor'), is purposed to help cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social, and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century; and WHEREAS, 100RC funded a Chief Resilience Officer ("CRO") in various cities selected to lead resilience efforts; resources for drafting a resilience strategy; access to private sector, public sector, academic, and non-governmental organization resilience tools; and membership in a global network of peer cities to share best practices and challenges; and WHEREAS, the Grantor, on behalf of 100RC, awarded the City of Miami ("City") grant funds for the purpose of guiding the delivery of resilience efforts in the City; and WHEREAS, on May 30, 2019, the City released its Resilient 305 Report ("Report"), attached and incorporated as Exhibit "A," detailing strategies and approaches to creating a more resilient community; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to adopt the Report, attached and incorporated as Exhibit 'A" as a guiding strategy to tackling resilience issues in the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission adopts the Report, attached and incorporated as Exhibit 'A" as a guiding strategy to tackling resilience issues in the City. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' 1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
