LIMITED TO SUBMITTING A RESOLUTION FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE CITY

ACCESS RESTRICTION PROCEDURE FOR SOUTHWEST 14TH AVENUE,
SOUTHWEST 16TH AVENUE, AND SOUTHWEST 16TH COURT AT POINTS

WITH SOUTHWEST 22ND STREET, AS WELL AS SOUTHWEST 23RD STREET AT

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY, INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO SUBMITTING A RESOLUTION FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE CITY
COMMISSION AT ITS MAY 23, 2019 MEETING, TO INITIATE THE VEHICULAR
ACCESS RESTRICTION PROCEDURE FOR SOUTHWEST 14TH AVENUE,
SOUTHWEST 16TH AVENUE, AND SOUTHWEST 16TH COURT AT POINTS
APPROXIMATELY 125 FEET SOUTH OF THEIR RESPECTIVE INTERSECTIONS
WITH SOUTHWEST 22ND STREET, AS WELL AS SOUTHWEST 23RD STREET AT
A POINT APPROXIMATELY 120 FEET EAST OF ITS INTERSECTION WITH
SOUTHWEST 17TH AVENUE, SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS AS MORE
PARTICULARLY SET FORTH HEREIN.
WHEREAS, Section 54-16 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City
Code"), provides for a procedure for the prohibition of vehicular access to a public street by
allowing the City Commission to adopt a Resolution recommending such prohibition to the
Miami -Dade County Traffic Director after a public hearing and after receipt of recommendations
by the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to direct the City Manager to take any and all
actions, including but not limited to submitting a Resolution and preparing the recommendations
required by Section 54-16 of the City Code for the May 23, 2019 City Commission meeting in
order to begin the process of initiating a vehicular access restriction for Southwest 14th Avenue,
Southwest 16th Avenue, and Southwest 16th Court at points approximately 125 feet south of
their respective intersections with Southwest 22nd Street as well as Southwest 23rd Street at a
point approximately 120 feet east of its intersection with Southwest 17th Avenue, with said
measurements to coincide with the end of any commercial property and the beginning of any
duplex or single-family property at said intersections;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to take any all actions, including but not limited
to preparing a Resolution and accompanying recommendations from the Departments of Police,
Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste for the May 23, 2019 City Commission meeting in order to begin
the process of initiating a vehicular access restriction for Southwest 14th Avenue, Southwest
16th Avenue, and Southwest 16th Court at points approximately 125 feet south of their
respective intersections with Southwest 22nd Street as well as Southwest 23rd Street at a point
approximately 120 feet east of its intersection with Southwest 17th Avenue, with said
measurements to coincide with the end of any commercial property and the beginning of any
duplex or single-family property at said intersections.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'

' If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
