Background of Item: The City of Miami ("City") is the owner of the Ralph Munroe Marine Stadium ("Marine Stadium") located at 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, Florida. The City authorized $45 million in revenue bonds to restore Marine Stadium. In 2016, as part of the restoration project, Heineken did a crowd funding and public awareness campaign and pulled several hundred seats from the Marine Stadium to sell for purposes of increasing fundraising efforts. As part of this campaign several leftover seats were given to various art organizations in Miami to create new artwork that would respect the long history of Marine Stadium. The Miami Design Preservation League, Inc., ("Preservation League") will coordinate the Marine Stadium Seat Art Exhibit at Miami Beach ("Exhibit") that will include Marine Stadium seats, videos, photographs and information panels that will focus on Marine Stadium and Virginia Key Beach. The Preservation League has requested the City partially fund the Marine Stadium Seat Art Exhibit ("Exhibit") in the amount of four thousand seventy-five dollars ($4,075.00). The City will allocate funds from Project No. 40-1330688, Marine Stadium Restoration Project General Fund Contribution Award 1426. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is the owner of the Ralph Munroe Marine Stadium ("Marine Stadium") located at 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, the City previously authorized $45 million in revenue bonds for the restoration of Marine Stadium; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0292, Heineken USA, Incorporated ("Heineken") conducted a crowdfunding and public awareness campaign to raise funds to renovate and restore the Marine Stadium; and WHEREAS, Heineken pulled several hundred spectator seats from Marine Stadium to sell as part of the fundraising efforts; and WHEREAS, several leftover seats were given to various art organizations in the Greater Miami area to create new artwork that would respect the long history of Marine Stadium; and WHEREAS, the Miami Design Preservation League, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation ("Preservation League"), will coordinate a Marine Stadium Seat Art Exhibit at Miami Beach ("Exhibit") that will include Marine Stadium seats, videos, photographs, and informational panels that will focus on Marine Stadium and Virginia Key Beach; and WHEREAS, the costs for the Exhibit totals eight thousand one hundred fifty dollars ($8,150.00) and the Preservation League has requested the City to partially fund the Exhibit in the amount of four thousand seventy-five dollars ($4,075.00); and WHEREAS, the City will allocate funds from Project No. 40-B30688, Marine Stadium Restoration Project General Fund Contribution Award 1426; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to allocate a donation of funds in the amount of four thousand seventy-five dollars ($4,075.00) to the Preservation League to partially fund the Exhibit taking place from early May 2019 through August 2019 and allocating funds from Project No. 40-630688, Marine Stadium Restoration Project General Fund Contribution Award 1426. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 1 i ria i ' ndez, City Attor ey 5/9/2019 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
