The Miami Dade County Homeless Trust is funding to provide Hotel/Motel placements for families whenever shelter is unavailable. Background of Item: The Hotel/Motel Agreement funds will be used by the Homeless Services from the City of Miami DHS to temporarily accommodate homeless families in housing accommodations and motel rooms whenever emergency shelter rooms are not available. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed Nine Hundred Ninety Six Thousand Dollars ($996,000.00) ("Grant") from Miami -Dade County through the Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust ("County") for the provision of temporary emergency hotel/motel accommodations for homeless families for Fiscal Year 2018- 2019; and WHEREAS, the City's Department of Human Services ("Department") will utilize the Grant for its Homeless Services Division to provide temporary placement services for homeless families; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to enter into a Grant Agreement with the County for acceptance of the Grant for said purpose, in substantially the attached form ("Agreement"), and establish a new special revenue project for the appropriation of the Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the Agreement, in substantially the attached form, between the County and the City accepting the Grant in an amount not to exceed Nine Hundred Ninety Six Thousand Dollars ($996,000.00) for a twelve (12) month period, with no City matching funds required, for the provision of temporary emergency hotel/motel accommodations for homeless families conditioned upon the availability of the City resources required to implement the acceptance of and compliance with said Grant. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is established with resources for the same appropriated as described below: PROJECT TITLE: Emergency Hotel/Motel Placement Program, PC-1819-HTMT-1 RESOURCES: The Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust $996,000.00 APPROPRIATIONS: Provision of temporary emergency hotel/motel $996,000.00 accommodations for homeless families. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all amendments to the Agreement and documents necessary, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in furtherance of the Grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 1 i t6ria i ' ndez, City Attor ey 3/4/2019 ' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
