A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENTS,
APPROVING, IN PRINCIPLE, THE MIAMI PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES MASTER
PLAN, DATED MAY, 2007, AS A GUIDING TOOL FOR THE FUTURE
DEVELOPMENT AND PRESERVATION OF CITY OF MIAMI PARKS AND PUBLIC
SPACES AS ENVISIONED IN THE MIAMI 21 INITIATIVE; DIRECTING THE PARKS
AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO REPORT ON A BI -ANNUAL BASIS TO THE
PARKS ADVISORY BOARD REGARDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID PLAN.
WHEREAS, in May of 2007, the Miami Parks and Public Spaces Master Plan ('Plan") was
completed by Goody Clancy and Associates for the City of Miami, Department of Parks and
Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Planning Advisory Board, at its meeting held on May 16, 2007, Item No.
1, following an advertised public hearing, adopted Resolution No. PAB 07-023 by a vote of eight to
zero (8-0), recommending APPROVAL with conditions of the adoption of this item to the City of Miami
City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Planning recommended approval of the attached Plan; which
sets short and long term goals that will direct the City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department into
a premier parks system by providing a framework in the areas of maintenance, building design,
program and staff management and operations that will propel them towards becoming a 21st century
park system as envisioned in the Miami 21 initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the herein Resolution has been the subject of a properly advertised public hearing
before the City Commission;
Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the preamble of this resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section.
Section 2. The Department of Planning recommended approval of the attached Plan; which
sets short and long term goals that will direct the City Of Miami Parks and Recreation Department into
a premier parks system by providing a framework in the areas of maintenance, building design,
program and staff management and operations that will propel them towards becoming a 21st century
park system as envisioned in the Miami 21 initiatives.
Section 3. As recommended per the Planning Advisory Board, the Parks and Recreation
Director will report to the Parks Advisory Board on a bi-annual basis on how the Miami Parks and
Public Spaces Master Plan, attached hereto, is being implemented.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{1 }
Footnotes:
{1) If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
