HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-19-0032City of Miami 1 i.RR cl Legislation alldl 1 l + Resolution: R-19-0032 File Number: 5268 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 1/10/2019 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM THE DISTRICT 3 SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API") PROGRAM IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY- FIVE THOUSAND, THIRTY-THREE DOLLARS AND TWO CENTS ($35,033.02) FOR THE DISTRICT 3 MEALS PROGRAM, TO THE DISTRICT 3 DISCRETIONARY ACCOUNT FOR EXPENDITURES CONSISTENT WITH THE API PROGRAM. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Joe Carollo WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative ("API") to address poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support towards the goal of having the City's residents achieve self-sufficiency; and WHEREAS, currently, the District 3 Commissioner provides and distributes meals and supplies for the benefit of low-income and underprivileged residents in District 3 ("Meals Program") using District 3 Discretionary Funds; and WHEREAS, the provision and distribution of the meals as part of the Meals Program is consistent with and furthers the API program within the City; and WHEREAS, the District 3 Commissioner desires to continue to provide programs, meals, and opportunities for District 3 residents through the Meals Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of grant funds from the District 3 share of the City's API program in an amount not to exceed Thirty -Five Thousand, Thirty -Three Dollars and Two Cents ($35,033.02) to reimburse the District 3 discretionary account for the Meals Program is authorized.' Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 ' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
