The Community Advisory Board (CRB) was created to provide oversight and feedback to the
Miami Police Department (MPD) and Independent Reviewer pursuant to the monitoring agreement
between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the City. The Community Advisory Board will
leverage the insights and expertise of the community to address policing concerns and promote
greater transparency and public understanding of the MPD. The board shall be authorized to; (a)
advise the Chief of Police on strategies and training to improve community relations and MPD
responsiveness to community concerns; (b) work with the Chief of Police to establish and carry out
community public safety priorities; (c) provide the community with information on the Agreement
and its implementation; and (d) receive and convey to the MPD and DOJ public comments and
concerns, in addition to the MPD's civilian compliant system. The board consists of thirteen (13)
members who are selected by independent, nonpartisan co -facilitators. Members selected by the co-
facilitators must be approved by a majority vote of the Commission.
Members of the Community Advisory Board shall be residents of the City of Miami.
Two (2) confirmations are needed at this time.
The Commission -At -Large is being requested to confirm the appointments of the
following members:
1. Anthony Adorno
2. Brandon Okpalobi
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of
this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the December 13,
2018, Commission agenda.
