Re: RE.24 — Miami River Funding in Miami Forever Bond Issue
Dear City Commission:
I respectfully recommend approval of RE.24, which thankfully
includes Miami Forever Bond funding for riverfront Jose Marti Park
and installing stormwater valves on Miami River outfalls. The Miami
River Commission thanks the City of Miami for including needed
funding for the Miami River District in this and future Miami Forever
Bond funding issuances, consistent with the approval of the voters of
the City of Miami. I applaud the City of Miami for being awarded a
Phase I grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District for a cost
share to design and permit improvements to Jose Marti Park, which
then the City is eligible to apply again to FIND for a Phase 11 50150
matching grant for construction.
Your time and continued strong support for the Miami River District
are appreciated.
Sincerely,
Horacio Stuart Aguirre
Chairman,
Miami River Commission
