HOLT, JR. TRACK AND FIELD COMPLEX;" CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Jesse Lee Holt, Jr. ("Holt") was a source of inspiration who served as a uniting force of positivity for many individuals in the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, Holt attended Booker T. Washington Junior and Senior High School, became a member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and later joined the ministry of Total Victory Church, where his son, Reverend Alan Holt, served as senior pastor; and WHEREAS, in 1976, Holt founded the Miami Northwest Express Track Club and subsequently established the Annual Northwest Track and Field Classic, which continues to operate as one of the largest international track and field competitions in the world; and WHEREAS, Holt used his role as a father, coach, and mentor to transform the lives of countless children and families within the City and beyond; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Chapter 38/Article I of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is amended in the following particulars:' "CHAPTER 38 PARKS AND RECREATION ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL ' Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. (a) The track and field at Moore Park shall be known as Jesse L. Holt, Jr. Track and Field Complex. Secs. 38-2422 - 38.45. Reserved. *11 Section 3. If any section, part of a section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 4.
