WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 17-0484 adopted on October 12, 2017, the City Commission joined the World Health Organization and the American Association of Retired Persons ("AARP") network of age -friendly communities; and WHEREAS, Urban Health Partnerships, Inc., a Florida not for profit corporation ("Urban Health"), through the Miami -Dade Age Friendly Initiative, has recently received grant funding from AARP to install age -friendly benches in Little Havana near various transit stops; and WHEREAS, this funding is part of a national community challenge grant program; and WHEREAS, the benches would benefit all transit riders, including older adults who tend to rely more heavily on public transportation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to accept a donation of twenty (20) narrow benches from Urban Health, which have an estimated total value of fourteen thousand five hundred dollars ($14,500.000), to be installed at various locations throughout District 3 by the City and to be maintained by the City. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to effectuate the same. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 ' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
