A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-72 OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"),
AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE MAYOR'S SHARE OF
THE CITY'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API") IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($9,000.00) TO INTERNATIONAL SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL,
INC., A FLORIDA PROFIT CORPORATION, IN SUPPORT OF A SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
SPONSORSHIP; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE
CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-72
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"),
AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE MAYOR'S
SHARE OF THE CITY'S ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE ("API") IN A TOTAL AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($9,000.00) TO INTERNATIONAL
SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL, INC., A FLORIDA PROFIT CORPORATION, IN SUPPORT
OF A SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT SPONSORSHIP; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID
PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative ("API") to
address poverty based on a strategy of focusing the provision of support towards the City's
residents achieving self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, International Slowpitch Softball, Inc., a Florida profit corporation
("International Slowpitch"), is seeking funding in support of its City of Miami Invitational Mayor's
Cup Tournament ("Tournament"); and
WHEREAS, International Slowpitch is partnering with Camillus House for the
Tournament to bring awareness to and offer donations and volunteer services to Camillus
House; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-72 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), the Mayor wishes to provide grant funds from the Mayor's share of the
City's API in an amount not to exceed Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000.00) ("Funds") for the
Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to
negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, for the allocation of said Funds for the Tournament;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-72 of the City Code, the City Manager is authorized'
to allocate Funds from the Mayor's share of the City's API to International Slowpitch in an
amount not to exceed Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000.00) for the Tournament.
' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to execute any and all documents
necessary, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
