HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-18-0442City of Miami 1 i.RR cl Legislation alldl 1 l + Resolution: R-18-0442 File Number: 4977 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 10/11/2018 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION SUPPORTING TRAFFIC FLOW MODIFICATIONS AT THE INTERSECTION OF SOUTHWEST 15TH ROAD, SOUTHWEST 3RD AVENUE, AND SOUTHWEST 13TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, WHICH INCLUDES THE INSTALLATION OF A ROUNDABOUT AT SAID INTERSECTION; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS AND WASTE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT SIX SECRETARY, AND THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSED TRAFFIC FLOW MODIFICATIONS. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Joe Carollo WHEREAS, at the request of area residents, the City of Miami ("City") requested that the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") conduct a traffic study to evaluate placing a roundabout at the intersection of Southwest 15th Road, Southwest 3rd Avenue, and Southwest 13th Street, Miami, Florida ("Intersection"); and WHEREAS, FDOT has conducted the study and engaged in public outreach to the public near the Intersection; and WHEREAS, such traffic flow modification would increase throughput, reduce congestion, and increase safety at the Intersection; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission supports traffic flow modifications at the Intersection, which includes the installation of a roundabout at the Intersection. Section 3. The City Manager is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Miami - Dade County's Public Works and Waste Management Department, the FDOT District 6 Secretary, and the FDOT Secretary to consider the approval of the proposed traffic flow modifications at the Intersection. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' ' If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
