HomeMy WebLinkAboutOAB Election Results & RatificationTo Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission FROM: Todd annon City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE, August 23, 2018 FILE: SUBJEO,T: August 21, 2018 OABIOCOB Election Results and Ratification REFERENCES: Agenda for September 13, 2018 ENCLOSURES: Certification and Declaration of Election Results, Current Members The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board (OABIOCOB) was created via Ordinance I2858 amending Article XI of Chapter 2 of the City Code to encourage and support housing, job creation, economic and business development, educational opportunities and historic and cultural preservation within the Overtown community. The Board shall provide written recommendations to the City Commission regarding activities, developments, and improvements within or substantially impacting the residents of the Over -town Area, The OABIOCOB membership consists of eleven (l 1) adult member seats, of which: five (5) are elected by the Overtown community, five (5) are appointed by the District 5 Commissioner, and one (1) is appointed by the Mayor. There are also two (2) youth member seats, of which: one (1) is appointed by the District 5 Commissioner and the other is appointed by the body of the OABIOCOB. Pursuant to City of Miami Code Sec. 2-1052(c), an election was conducted on August 21, 2018 for five (5) available elected member seats on the OABIOCOB. Twelve (12) individuals qualified as candidates for the available seats. The following five (5) candidates received the greatest number of votes and were elected as members of the OABIOCOB. ■ Terrance Cribbs-Larrant • Renarda Cunningham • Larry C. Houston, Sr. ■ Anitrice "Joy" McKinnis • Andre Williams Pursuant to Miami Code Section 2-1052(e), the City Commission must ratify the election results for the newly elected members to serve on the OABIOCOB. For your convenience, I am including the certification and declaration of election results, in addition to the current membership of the board. On August 7, 2018, from 2.00 p.m. until 5.30 p.m. an OABIOCOB Candidate Qualifying Meeting was conducted to determine the eligibility of individuals that submitted applications to qualify as candidates to he seated as OAlB/OCOB elected members.
