THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY") ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE GRANT FUNDS, FROM THE
MAYOR'S SHARE, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT, NOT TO EXCEED FIFTEEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($15,000.00), TO RER CONSULTING ENTERPRISE LLC, A FLORIDA LIMITED
LIABILITY COMPANY, TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOCUS GROUP
SESSIONS FOR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS WITH CITY POLICE OFFICER(S)
INVOLVEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
ALLOCATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY") ANTI -POVERTY INITIATIVE
GRANT FUNDS, FROM THE MAYOR'S SHARE, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT, NOT TO
EXCEED FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000.00), TO RER CONSULTING
ENTERPRISE LLC, A FLORIDA LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY, TO PROVIDE
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FOCUS GROUP SESSIONS FOR COMMUNITY
RESIDENTS WITH CITY POLICE OFFICER(S) INVOLVEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID
PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") created the Anti -Poverty Initiative to address
poverty based on principles outlined in the Gateway to Self -Sufficiency strategy, which focuses
on providing support to the City's residents in achieving self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, RER Consulting Enterprise LLC., a Florida Limited Liability Company
("Organization"), has requested these funds to provide a series of training and focus group
sessions for community residents to work directly with City police officers; and
WHEREAS, the Organization's goal is to establish trusting relationships and improve
alliance by bridging the gap between community members and City Police through community
engagement training groups; and
WHEREAS, the Organization furthers the Anti -Poverty Initiative within the City and
exemplifies the principles outlined in the Gateway to Self -Sufficiency strategy; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Suarez desires to contribute to the Organization's initiative; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to allocate grant funds in a total amount, not to exceed
fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00), from the Mayor's share of Anti -Poverty Initiative grant
funds to the Organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The allocation from the Mayor's share of the City's Anti -Poverty Initiative
grant funds, in a total amount, not to exceed fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00), to the
Organization to provide community engagement focus group sessions for City police officers
and community residents, is authorized.'
The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
