Background of Item: The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") provides the City of Miami ("City") entitlement grants annually under the following programs: CDBG, HOME, HOPWA, and the ESG. On May 1, 2018, HUD announced funds to be granted to the City under said programs for program year 2018-2019 as stated herein: (1) $5,259,044 to the CDBG Program, (2) $3,545,440 to the HOME Program (3) $11,680,308 to the HOPWA Program, and (4) $427,775 to the ESG Program. The City Administration recommends accepting HUD Entitlement Grant Funds, in the total amount of $20,912,567 as stated herein, for the following programs: CDBG, HOME, HOPWA, and ESG for Fiscal Year 2018-2019. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") provides to the City of Miami ("City") entitlement grants annually for Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG"), Home Investment Partnerships ("HOME"), Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS ("HOPWA"), and Emergency Solutions Grants ("ESG"); and WHEREAS, on May 1, 2018, HUD announced it will grant funds to the City under said programs for Program Year 2018-2019 in the following amounts: (1) $5,259,044.00 for the CDBG program, (2) $3,545,440.00 for the HOME program, (3) $11,680,308.00 for the HOPWA program, and (4) $427,775.00 for the ESG program; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends accepting HUD entitlement grant funds in the total amount of $20,912,567.00 for the stated programs for Fiscal Year 2018-2019; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of HUD entitlement grant funds in the total amount of $20,912,567.00 for the following programs in the following amounts: (1) $5,259,044.00 for the CDBG program, (2) $3,545,440.00 for the HOME program, (3) $11,680,308.00 for the HOPWA program, and (4) $427,775.00 for the ESG program, for Program Year 2018-2019 is authorized.' Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, as may be necessary to accept said HUD entitlement grant funds. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: -\� 1 i t6ria i ' ndez, City Attor ey 6/1312018 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
