PLUMMER AVENUE"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICIALS STATED HEREIN. File Number: 4385 City of Miami Legislation Resolution Enactment Number: R-18-0279 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date:6/28/2018 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REQUESTING, DECLARING NO OBJECTION, AND SUPPORTING THE CODESIGNATION BY MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ("COUNTY") OF SOUTHWEST 17TH AVENUE (A COUNTY ROAD) BETWEEN UNITED STATES ROUTE 1/US 1 AND SOUTH BAYSHORE DRIVE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "J.L. PLUMMER AVENUE"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICIALS STATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, Joseph Lionel "J.L." Plummer ("Plummer") was born in the City of Miami ("City") in 1936, was raised in the City, and graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1953; and WHEREAS, in 1966, Plummer was appointed to serve on the City's Zoning Board; and WHEREAS, Plummer was appointed to the Miami City Commission in 1970; and WHEREAS, Plummer was elected in 1971 and served on the Miami City Commission as the District 2 Commissioner for twenty-nine (29) years; and WHEREAS, during his tenure as City Commissioner, Plummer helped transform the City into the world class City it is today; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission requests, declares no objection, and supports the codesignation by Miami -Dade County ("County") of Southwest 17th Avenue (a County Road) between United States Route 1/US 1 and South Bayshore Drive, Miami, Florida, as "J.L. Plummer Avenue." Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mayor Carlos Gimenez, the members of the Board of County Commissioners, and the Director of the County's Department of Transportation and Public Works. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' 1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
