Legislation .r.. g Miami, FL 33133 � ri k{ t ` Resolution www.miamigev.com Enactment Number: R-18-0019 File Number: 3378 Final Action Date:1/1112018 A RESOLUTfON OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ALLOCATING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE DISTRICT 5 COMMISSIONER'S SHARE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ANTI- POVERTY INITIATIVE PROGRAM, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $400,000.00, TO THE LIBERTY CITY COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION TRUST FOR THE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Liberty City Community Revitalization Trust ("Trust") has implemented a Youth Employment Program ("Program") that imparts financial empowerment to local youth through paid work assignments; and WHEREAS, the Program furthers the Anti -Poverty Initiative within the City of Miami ("City") and exemplifies the principles outlined in the Gateway to Self -Sufficiency strategy; and WHEREAS, the City Commission previously allocated Anti -Poverty Initiative funds from the District 5 share of Anti -Poverty Initiative Funds in the amount of $200,000.00 to the Program pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0200, adopted April 28, 2016, and $200,000.00 pursuant to Resolution No. 17-0017, adopted January 17, 2017, and the Program has been successful; and WHEREAS, the District 5 Commissioner wishes to grant additional funds from the District 5 share of the City's Anti -Poverty Initiative in an amount not to exceed $400,000.00 ("Funds") to continue to employ youth through the Program beyond the summer, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The allocation of grant funds from the District 5 share of the City's Anti - Poverty Initiative in an amount not to exceed $400,000.00 to the Trust for the Program, is authorized. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
