RE: Nomination of Trenise Bryant to Membership on CIP
Dear Commissioner Hardemon:
GRISTINA SEAMUD
Executive Director
The Civilian Investigative Panel ("CIP") recently met to nominate candidates for membership. As you
know, Article II, Section 11.5.28 requires the CIP Nominating Committee to screen applications,
interview potential candidates and submit such candidates to the city commission to fill vacancies. The
ordinance requires that the city commission appoint, by majority vote, exclusively from the nominations
submitted by the nominating committee. The CIP would like your support in the appointment of Ms.
Trenise Bryant to replace Mairlyn Lightbourn Oshodi. Ms. Lightbourn has decided not to seek a second
term on the CIP.
Ms. Bryant is employed by the Miami Dade School Board and has been active in Miami civic life for many
years. She works with the New Florida Majority, and the Miami Workers Center helping to improve the
quality of life for all citizens of our community.
I also include a copy of her application and her resume for your consideration. Please let me know if you
have any questions about this candidate or her nomination.
Thank you for your attention and your support.
Sincerely,
Cristina Beamud

I have a Finance Degree from Florida International University. I manage several
Smoothie King Franchises in the Miami Area and I am involved with several business
ventures throughout the City of Miami. My business ventures, as well as, my volunteer
work within the City of Miami have geared me to learn the many facets of this great city.
As a business owner, I know the importance of providing great customer service. I try
to instill this philosophy in my employees on a daily basis. At times, when an employee
is not receptive to the culture I pain to achieve, I have to take a fair and impartial
approach to the discipline I will possibly recommend or enforce. Disciplinary situations
have led me to understand and obtain a vast knowledge in Employee Labor Laws and
the experiences of how to diplomatically handle situations as they are presented to me.
7. Why do you wish to serve on the CIP? (You may attach u.P to _a_ ons-page
response.)
My purpose for seeking a position on the Civilian Investigative Panel is to ensure that
we maintain nothinq but the utmost professionalism from the employees of the great
City of Miami. I understand that the police department has to provide a tough work
product, The service the men and woman of the Miami Police department provide is
both risky and dangerous. I commend every last one of those brave individuals for
confronting those dangerous situations head on. I am also well aware of the
unfortunate behaviors and mishaps the department has dealt with both in recent years
and in its past history. I believe the CAP, is an important com o_ne_ in P1s_urin
the members of Miami Police Department follow their Departmental Guidelines and
continue to provide not only excellent law enforcement service, but great customer
service as well. As a member of the Civilian Investigative Panel I will approach each
case with a fair and bias view before stating my opinion or judgment. As a possible
future member of the C..f.P;I feeltha't,I;would be an excellent addition and would be
honored and privileged to occupy a seat alongside the existing great board members of
the panel_ L
