Kids Fishing Tournaments
In conjunction with the City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department we
sponsor several fishing tournaments for kids. Approximately 90-100 kids are
provided with fishing equipment and bait to fish off of our docks. They are
also introduced to the importance of protecting the environment.
Refreshments are also provided and after the tournament they are treated to
lunch, followed by the trophy presentation for the 1 st, 2nd and 3rd places as
well as a smaller trophy to each of the participants.
All kids get to choose from a variety of items from coloring sets to skate
boards.

The club sponsors both of these events, providing the busses to bring, more
than 240 residents living in various housing complexes throughout the city, to
the club. There they are invited to dinner, with the members providing the
waiter service. We also bring a DJ for the music and in many occasions bring
guests like The Mayor, Roberto Torres, Oscar Azza , and others to meet the
seniors.

Christmas Boat Parade
Each December, for over 19 years, the, club members have gotten together and
brought to the City of Miami an annual boat parade.
The parade has grown over the years from 18 or 20 boats to more than 70 boats
that are paraded through the waters of Biscayne Bay for everyone's enjoyment.
The parade passes in front of Bayside and Bayfront Park where a Fireworks
display starts.
The purpos of the Boat Parad s to ,raise funds which we use to purchase the
over 800 to that we give to the fids duriqlfthe holiday season. Funds are also
used for a scholarship program, wifIfMigmi Dade College, that each year
provides assistance to a City of Miami student in the School of Hospitality.
Each year the Miami Outboard Club4okes arrangements to -JBayfront Park to
provide a safe area for thousands of -residents of the City to come and watch the
parade atno charge. With activitieLkuch as a bounce house for the kids, a DJ to
provide music, a stage with entertent, several food trucks, and even a snow

As part of the boat parade we conduct a Poster contest using the art students
from Citrus Grove Middle School. The winning design is used as our official
poster, and the club donates cash to the School's Art Program. We also arrange it
with the school to bring an ice cream truck and music for a celebration with all
the participants in ithe cont ,and at that time the winner is annowced and

Toy Drive
During the months preceding the Boat Parade the club organizes a toy drive to
collect as many toys as possible to donate to between 800 and 1200 kids who are
part of several City of Miami Programs or organizations. We have provided toys to
Centro Matter, Stadium Apartments, San Juan Bosco's Learning Center, The Ronald
McDonald House at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Riverside Elementary and
The Catholic Charities Child Development Services in Miami among others, making
sure no kid within their organizations go home without a toy.
The toys are collected from members and friends, and boxes are placed at several
businesses belonging to our club members. The club purchases the remaining toys
to complete the necessary quantity. The toys are sorted by age group to assure
that each kid receives an age appropriate gift.

A new year has arrived leaving us with the pleasant memories of the year past.
Some of those memories were forged by your invitation to have members of our staff
participate as judges in your annual boat parade. This was an exiting and memorable
experience you chose to share with us. You also made it possible for some beautiful
memories to be etched in some of our underprivileged children's lives that without your
toy drive and caring efforts to provide a memorable experience with all kinds of treats
and details they would not have had the joyful Christmas they had. We want to take this
opportunity to thank you and all the personnel within your organization that made the
making of these memories possible for our staff and our children.
We at Centro Mater are committed to servicing our community with quality child
care and education and as we are enabled by organizations like yours, we help these
families minimize the hardships they face during these difficult times. Thank you for
partnering witlkus in this worthy cause.
May this year be full of success for your organization and joy for you and all your
staff.
Sincerely,
oe
