A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION SUPPORTING THE
SUBMITTAL OF A RESPONSIVE BID IN RESPONSE TO A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS ("RFP") FOR AMAZON.COM, INC'S. SECOND CORPORATE
HEADQUARTERS; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO WORK
WITH THE OMNI REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST
COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT
AUTHORITY, ENTERPRISE FLORIDA, THE BEACON COUNCIL, MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY, AND PRIVATE ENTITIES IN ORDER TO SUBMIT A RESPONSIVE BID
TO THE RFP BY OCTOBER 19, 2017.
WHEREAS, Amazon.com, Inc. ("Amazon") has invited metropolitan statistical areas,
states/provinces, counties, cities, and relevant localities to submit responses to a Request for
Proposals ("RFP") to participate in a competitive site selection process for Amazon's second
corporate headquarters ("HQ2"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is working together with its partners at the Beacon
Council, Miami -Dade County, the Downtown Development Authority, the Omni Redevelopment
District Community Redevelopment Agency, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency, Enterprise Florida, and private entities to develop a package that
identifies the City as the ideal location for Amazon's HQ2 by October 19, 2017;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
MIAMI DDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution
are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Commission supports the undertaking of the bid process in regards
to the RFP for Amazon's HQ2.
Section 3. The City Commission further directs the City Manager to work with the Omni
Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agency, the Southeast Overtown/Park
West Community Redevelopment Agency, the Downtown Development Authority, Enterprise
Florida, the Beacon Council, Miami -Dade County, and private entities in order to submit a
responsive bid to the RFP by October 19, 2017.
Section 4. This Resolution will be effective immediately upon its adoption.'
' If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
