HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-17-0409opCity of Miami 1 i.RR cl Legislation alldl 1 l + Resolution R-17-0409 File Number: 2759 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 9/19/2017 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP ("SHIP") FUNDS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1,230,664.00 FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017- 2018 FOR THE STRATEGIES UNDER THE CURRENT SHIP LOCAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE PLAN; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO EFFECTUATE THE ACCEPTANCE OF SHIP FUNDS. WHEREAS, the Sadowski Act provided a dedicated revenue source for affordable housing and created the Florida State Housing Initiative Partnership ("SHIP") Program; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0160, adopted April 14, 2016, the Miami City Commission approved the City of Miami ("City") Amended Local Housing Assistance Plan ("LHAP") for the period of July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019, allowing the City's continued participation in the Florida SHIP Program; and WHEREAS, on July 24, 2017, the City was notified by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation of a distribution of SHIP funds in the total amount of $1,230,664.00; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the acceptance of SHIP funds in an amount no less than $1,230,664.00 for Fiscal Year 2017-2018, for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of SHIP funds in an amount no less than $1,230,664.00 for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is specifically authorized' to accept SHIP funds in an amount greater than $1,230,664.00 for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP without further City Commission action should such additional funds be allocated by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to execute any and all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to effectuate the acceptance of SHIP funds. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions.
