Backaround of Item: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") has yet to release the final Community Planning and Development Program Formula Allocations for Program Year 2017, as such, the amount of CDBG Economic Development funds being recommended is a projection. Pursuant to Resolution No. R- , adopted June 22, 2017, the Miami City Commission approved CDBG Program Year categories, allocating the projected amount of $706,856.70 and the amount of $126,000 from previous years Program Income, for a total projected amount of $832,856.70 in the Public Service category. The funding allocation account may need to be adjusted proportionately once HUD confirms the final CDBG formula allocation for Program Year 2017-2018. The City Administration recommends the allocation for 2017-2018 Program Year CDBG funds, from HUD entitlement grants funds in the amount of $706,856.70 and the amount of $126,000 from previous years Program Income, for a total projected amount of $832,856.70 in the Public Service category, to the agencies specified in Attachment "A", attached and incorporated, for Public Service activities beginning October 1, 2017. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") has yet to release the final Community Planning and Development Program Formula Allocations for Program Year 2017-2018, as such, the amount of Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds being recommended is a projection; and WHEREAS, the funding allocation account may need to be adjusted proportionately once HUD confirms the final CDBG allocation for Program Year 2017-2018; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Administration recommends the allocation for 2017-2018 Program Year CDBG funds, from HUD entitlement grants funds in the amount of $706,856.70 and the amount of $126,000.00 from previous years Program Income, for a total projected amount of $832,856.70 in the Public Service category, to the agencies specified in Attachment "A," attached and incorporated, for Public Service activities beginning October 1, 2017; and WHEREAS, the funding allocation to the agencies for the activities as specified in Attachment 'A" may need to be prorated once HUD confirms the final CDBG allocation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section. Section 2. The allocation of Program Year 2017-2018 CDBG funds, in the amount of $706,856.70 and the amount of $126,000.00 from previous year program income, for a total projected amount of $832,856.70, in the Public Service category, to the agencies specified in Attachment "A," attached and incorporated, for Public Service activities beginning October 1, 2017, is authorized. Section 3. These allocations will be adjusted in direct proportion to the actual allocation of CDBG funds provided by HUD for the 2017-2018 Program Year. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to execute any and all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 1 i ria i . ndez, City Attor ey 6/12/2017 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
