The following boards have Commissioners serving as members:
• Bayfront Park Management Trust: Commissioner Carollo serves as Chairperson from
12/11/2009 to present.
• Downtown Development Authority: Commissioner Russell serves as Chairperson from
12/11/2015 to present.
• Midtown Community Redevelopment Agency: Commissioner Suarez serves as
Chairperson from 2/12/2010 to present. Commissioner Gort serves as Vice Chairperson
from 2/12/2010 to present. Commissioner Carollo, Commissioner Hardemon, and
Commissioner Russell serve as members.
• Omni Community Redevelopment Agency: Commissioner Russell serves as
Chairperson from 12/11/2015 to present. Commissioner Suarez serves as Vice
Chairperson from 12/11/2009 to the present. Commissioner Carollo, Commissioner Gort,
and Commissioner Hardemon serve as members.
• Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency: Commissioner
Hardemon serves as Chairperson from 12/13/2013 to present. Commissioner Gort serves
as Vice Chairperson from 10/14/2011 to present. Commissioner Carollo, Commissioner
Suarez, and Commissioner Russell serve as members.
• Florida League of Cities: Commissioner Suarez serves as a member from 11/15/2012 to
present.
• Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau: Commissioner Hardemon serves as the
City representative from 12/13/2013 to present.
• Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO): Commissioner Suarez serves as the City
representative from 1/13/2012 to present.
• Miami -Dade County League of Cities: Commissioner Gort serves as a member from
2/8/2014 to present.
• Miami -Dade County Tourist Development Council (TDC): Commissioner Hardemon
serves as a member froml2/13/2013 to present.
• Miami River Commission: Commissioner Carollo serves as a member from 12/11/2009
to present.
Please refer to the attached which reflects the history of Commissioners serving on boards. It
also includes certain boards wherein certain elected officials serve in an ex -officio capacity
and are therefore, not considered for replacement.
Pursuant to City Code Section 2-35, it is the intent of the City Commission that the Mayor
and each Commissioner be considered for appointment to an authority, board or committee
before the Mayor or any one Commissioner shall have served a consecutive term; however,
there shall be no prohibition against the Mayor or any Commissioner from being reappointed
to serve consecutive terms.
By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be
scheduled for Commission consideration on the May 25, 2017, Commission meeting.
