ALL-STAR WEEK PLAY RAI L U A f ... .. . M1.13 -Marlins Ali -Star Field at Jose Marti Park PROJECT IMPACT Submitted into the plic record f jte> (s _ t- ,„ cin q i1, 1I City Clerk While there is baseball and softball activity currently at this park, the Marlins would like to increase this level of activity because we believe there are a multitude of personal benefits of playing baseball and softball. This project proposal includes a joint partnership between The Kiwanis of Little Havana, Up2Us Sports (industry leaders in Sports -Based Youth Development) and the City of Miami to develop comprehensive Play Ball programming at Jose Marti Park. The Kiwanis of Little Havana has a history of baseball activation in the neighborhood dating back to 1991. To enhance the programming, the Marlins Foundation will provide funding for Up2Us Sports to assign trained coaches to the project. The Kiwanis of Little Havana will facilitate the creation of a recreational baseball league through its members and volunteers, bringing in the youth of the local community to participate, as they do with all of their programs. We anticipate this partnership would allow an additional 1,000 — 3,000 youths to participate in baseball and softball programming at Jose Marti Park. This partnership would include the following programming: x n Hispanic — 79.21% l White —17.07% African-American — 2.46% Other — 0.88% Asian — 0.38% Median Household Income $ 35,188.71 ALL, STAR WEEK ff'111 Jr. RBI Season with the City of Miami Kiwanis Summer Baseball Camp (ages 7-13) Jr. RBI Fall Season led by Kiwanis Pitch, Hit & Run Competition RBI Softball Reg.
