A Resolution of the City of Miami Commission waving the parking lot use fee at The

and conditions" for event known as Fins Weekend; held from May 15, 2017 thru May
21, 2017.
Background of Item:
The Miami Dolphins Foundation, an education -focused nonprofit organization that
partners with public schools to help keep students on track to graduate, which benefits a
greater cause for the community, which hosts the event known as Fins Weekend held
from May 15, 2017 thru May 21, 2017, desires the parking lot use fee at location The
Marine Stadium (Commodore Ralph E. Munroe Marine Stadium) pursuant to Section
53-53 Sec. (C) of the City Code entitled "Sec. 53-53. - Rental rates and associated
charges and conditions" waived.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE FEE FOR THE
USE OF THE PARKING LOT AT THE COMMODORE RALPH E. MUNROE MARINE
STADIUM PURSUANT TO SECTION 53-53(B)(1)(D) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA, ENTITLED "RENTAL RATES AND ASSOCIATED CHARGES AND
CONDITIONS/SPECIAL CHARGES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS", FOR FINS
WEEKEND, HOSTED BY THE MIAMI DOLPHINS FOUNDATION, FROM MAY 15,
2017 THROUGH MAY 21, 2017.
WHEREAS, the Miami Dolphins Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Miami Dolphins
Football Team committed to making a year-round difference in the South Florida community;
and
WHEREAS, the Miami Dolphins Foundation desires to host a fundraising event known
as Fins Weekend at Commodore Ralph E. Munroe Marine Stadium ("Marine Stadium") for the
benefit of South Florida Sports Foundation, Inc. and City Year Miami; and
WHEREAS, among other commitments to the community, the Miami Dolphins
Foundation is engaged in a four (4) year one million dollar ($1,000,000.00) partnership with City
Year Miami, an education focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to
keep students in school and on track to graduate; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 53-53(b)(1)(c) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida
("City Code"), the fee for the use of the parking lot of the Marine Stadium is a flat fee of two
thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) per day, and if set-up or teardown is required during
use, there is a fee of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per day, limited to one (1) day prior and
one (1) day after the event; and
WHEREAS, Section 53-53(b)(1)(d) of the City Code provides that the City Commission
may waive the fee assessed under Section 53-53(b)(1)(c) of the City Code by Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Dolphins Foundation is requesting the use of the parking lot at
Marine Stadium from May 15, 2017 through May 21, 2017 consisting of two (2) setup/tear down
days and five (5) additional days for a total of seven (7) days with an associated cost of fourteen
thousand five hundred dollars ($14,500.00); and
WHEREAS, the Miami Dolphins Foundation is requesting the parking lot use fees be
waived for the Fins Weekend event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The fee for the use of the parking lot at the Marine Stadium pursuant to
Section 53-53(b)(1)(c) of the City Code, entitled "Rental rates and associated charges and
conditions/special charges, terms and conditions" for the event known as Fins Weekend, hosted
by the Miami Dolphins Foundation, from May 15, 2017 through May 21, 2017, in the amount of
fourteen thousand five hundred dollars ($14,500.00), is hereby waived pursuant to Section 53-
53(b)(1)(d) of the City Code.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
