Background of Item: Police has been tasked with replacing the UPS system at the Fire College that is beyond repair. The Fire College houses the back-up communication systems for police, fire, and Emergency 911 (E911). It is of vital importance that the Fire College has a functioning UPS system in case there is a dire need for relocation of the Fire Department, Police Department, and E911 dispatch centers, from the Police headquarters building. Without a working UPS system, there is a potential for power outages at the Fire College which will damage the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Server that could ultimately impact the E911 phones and back-up the First -in Alerting System. It is imperative that the City of Miami's Fire and Police departments be able to operate at all times in order to provide access to public service to the community in which they serve.
