HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-17-0010City of Miami Legislation Resolution R-17-0010 File Number: 1434 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 1/12/2017 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING AN ADDITIONAL ALLOCATION FROM PRIOR YEAR HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS ("HOPWA") FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,053,307.00, AS SPECIFIED IN ATTACHMENT "A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, TO PROVIDE HOUSING ASSISTANCE AND HOUSING RELATED SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE SAID ALLOCATION, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, on September 22, 2016, through budgetary appropriation, the City Commission changed the fiscal year of the Department of Community and Economic Development from April 1 st through March 31 st to October 1 st through September 30th; and WHEREAS, the change in the fiscal year requires an additional allocation of Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS ("HOPWA") funds for the extension of the fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends an additional allocation from prior year HOPWA funds, in the amount of $6,053,307.00, as specified in Attachment "A", attached and incorporated, to provide housing assistance and housing related services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The additional allocation from prior year HOPWA funds, in the amount of $6,053,307.00, as specified in Attachment "A", attached and incorporated, to provide housing assistance and housing related services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS, is approved. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to execute any and all documents necessary to complete said allocation, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 ' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
