A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION URGING GOVERNOR RICK
SCOTT AND THE MEMBERS OF THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT
FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
MASTER PLAN DURING THE 2017 LEGISLATIVE SESSION; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ADD FUNDING FOR THE STORMWATER MANAGEMENT MASTER
PLAN UPDATE TO THE LIST OF THE CITY'S 2017 LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES;
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
THE OFFICIALS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City") Phase I and Phase II Stormwater Management
Master Plans were rendered obsolete by their failure to account for and address the issue of
Sea Level Rise as a public safety and property loss concern; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0408, adopted on September 8, 2016, the
City Commission directed the City Administration to update the City's Stormwater Management
Master Plan to account for the effects of Sea Level Rise; and
WHEREAS, Sea Level Rise is a pressing issue which directly impacts the City's original
objectives of ensuring continued public safety and minimizing property loss; and
WHEREAS, the findings will further allow the City to develop a comprehensive Capital
Improvement Plan identifying drainage improvements and enhancements; and
WHEREAS, the City's Stormwater Management Master Plan update should be
adequately funded;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Commission urges Governor Rick Scott and the members of the
Florida Legislature to support the funding of the City's Stormwater Management Master Plan
update during the 2017 Legislative Session.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to add funding of the Stormwater Management
Master Plan update to the City's 2017 Legislative Priorities.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Governor
Rick Scott and the Members of the Florida Legislature.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'

' If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
