These volunteers receive 20 hours of preservice training and four hours of These AmeriCorps members Supervise the care recipient, provide companionship and assist with activities of daily living, thereby giving the caregiver a break from the 24/7 strain of caregiving. Their presence connects the family to the wider community. They are charged with bringing information to these hornebound caregivers about community resources in support of their caregiving efforts. As part of this service each family receives a comprehensive evaluation, support and case management services from a social worker.
