Annie Perez, CPPB
Director of Procurement ENCLOSURES:
RECOMMENDATION:
Based on the findings below, the Procurement Department {Procurement) hereby recommends award to
C)
Ten -8 Fire Equipment, Inc., the sole authorized state of Florida dealer and service facility for Braun
Industries, Inc. (Braun).
Contract Number/Title: 15-16-042, Remounting Services for Braun Ambulance Modules
Contract Amount, Approximately $170,000.00 per remount
Recommended Vendor: Ten -8 Fire Equipment, Inc.
BACKGROUND:
The Fire Rescue Department (Fire) would like to reduce the cost of replacing its Emergency Medical
Transport (EMT) fleet through a process called remounting. This process allows the EMT module (patient
compartment) of the ambulance to be removed from the chassis and cab section and then refurbished and
upgraded. The refurbished module is then affixed to a new chassis and cab, which results in a significant
savings of (50%) compared to the purchase of a new EMT, in addition to extending, the life of the module.
The refurbished module retains the original lifetime structural warranty provided by the manufacturer. The
module has a much longer lifespan than the chassis and cab, and therefore, is a viable cost savings option.
Fire has purchased its EMT vehicles from Braun exclusively since 2013. Ten -8 is the only dealer / service
facility authorized to perform work on Braun EMT vehicles in this region of the country. If the remount
services requested by Fire are performed by any dealer /service facility other than Ten -8, all manufacturer's
warranties will be voided, making Ten -8 the: only reasonable source for this service.
