HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-16-0526City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-16-0526 File Number: 1135 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 10/27/2016 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO STUDY THE MAXIMUM DENSITY POTENTIAL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") BY CALCULATING THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF UNITS THAT COULD RESULT IF EVERY BUILDABLE LOT IN THE CITY WAS DEVELOPED TO ITS MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE DENSITY/INTENSITY; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO REPORT ITS FINDINGS TO THE CITY COMMISSION WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS. SPONSOR(S): Mayor Francis Suarez WHEREAS, the Miami 21 Code, the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("Miami 21 Code"), and the Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan ("MCNP"), specify particular maximum densities depending upon the underlying MCNP land use designation; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to know the number of Dwelling Units, as defined in the Miami 21 Code, that could result if every buildable Lot were developed to its maximum density; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to direct the City Manager, or his designee to study such density potential and report its findings to the City Commission within thirty (30) days; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to study the maximum density potential of the City by calculating the maximum number of units that could result if every buildable lot in the City was developed to its maximum allowable density/intensity and to report its findings to the City Commission within thirty (30) days. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' ' If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
