HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-16-0483City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-16-0483 File Number: 1025 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 10/13/2016 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF FIVE HUNDRED (500) CANARY ALL -IN -ONE SECURITY DEVICES, WITH AN APPROXIMATE ESTIMATED TOTAL VALUE OF $99,995.00, FROM CANARY CONNECT, INC., TO BE GIVEN TO FIRST RESPONDERS CONSISTING OF THREE HUNDRED THIRTY (330) CITY OF MIAMI POLICE OFFICERS AND ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY (170) CITY OF MIAMI FIRE FIGHTERS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT SAID DONATIONS. SPONSOR(S): Mayor Francis Suarez WHEREAS, every day, hundreds of City of Miami Police Officers and City of Miami Fire Fighters wake up and go to work to protect the people of the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, these same Miami Police Officers and Miami Fire Fighters deserve something to keep their homes and families safe while they are at work; and WHEREAS, Canary Connect, Inc. ("Canary") has recognized that police officers and fire fighters dedicate their lives to keeping citizens safe and they wanted to do something to help protect the homes of police officers and fire fighters; and WHEREAS, Canary further recognizes that these brave men and women do not only protect our community, they are also a great part of it. Thus, this donation allows Canary an opportunity to give back to the first responders; and WHEREAS, said donation will not only benefit Miami Police Officers and Miami Fire Fighters, but it will also benefit the community as a whole; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The donation of five hundred (500) Canary All -in -One Security Devices with an approximate estimated total value of $99,995.00, from Canary, to be given to first responders consisting of three hundred thirty (330) Miami Police Officers and one hundred seventy (170) Miami Fire Fighters, is accepted. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept said donation. Section 4.
