'961is, *'Ir Legislation i 0 R �O Resolution: R-16-0435 File Number: 16-01196a City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com Final Action Date: 9/8/2016 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION GRANTING A SIXTY (60) DAY EXTENSION OF THE CITY COMMISSION DIRECTIVE ISSUED TO THE MIAMI SEA LEVEL RISE COMMITTEE AND THE WATERFRONT ADVISORY COMMITTEE AS STATED HEREIN PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 16-0230, ADOPTED MAY 12, 2016. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 15-0072, the City established the City of Miami Sea Level Rise Committee ("Sea Level Rise Committee"), whose duties are, inter alis, "To serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission and recommend any changes to City of Miami ("City") policy to help the City better combat the deleterious effects of sea level rise"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 29-122 of the City Code, the City's Waterfront Advisory Board is tasked with, inter alis, "provid[ing] advice to the City Commission concerning those issues and only such other matters as are referred to it by the City Commission in regard to City or public land abutting water"; and WHEREAS, the University of Miami ("UM") issued the UM Special Report, summarizing various challenges posed by climate change and potential mitigation solutions; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0230, adopted May 12, 2016, the City Commission directed the Sea Level Rise Committee and Waterfront Advisory Board to review said report and report their findings to the City Commission within ninety (90) days; and WHEREAS, the Sea Level Rise Committee and Waterfront Advisory Board have asked for an extension of time to report their findings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby grants a sixty (60) day extension of the City Commission directive issued to the Sea Level Rise Committee and the Waterfront Advisory Board pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0230, adopted May 12, 2016, relating to their review of the UM 2016 Climate Change Special Report. Section 3. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
