Drive Legislation Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com IN Resolution File Number: 16-01064 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP ("SHIP") FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NO LESS THAN $1,758,650.00, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2016-2017, FOR THE STRATEGIES UNDER THE CURRENT SHIP LOCAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE PLAN; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, in July 1992, the State of Florida enacted the William E. Sadowski Affordable Housing Act ("Sadowski Act") which provides for a portion of new and existing documentary stamp taxes on deeds on real estate transactions to be allocated to local governments for the development and maintenance of affordable housing; and WHEREAS, the Sadowski Act provided a dedicated revenue source for affordable housing and created the Florida State Housing Initiatives Partnership ("SHIP") Program; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 16-0160, adopted April 14, 2016, the Miami City Commission approved amending the City of Miami ("City") Local Housing Assistance Plan ("LHAP") for the period of July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019, allowing for the City's continued participation in the Florida SHIP Program; and WHEREAS, on March 28, 2016, the City was notified by Florida Housing Finance Corporation of an allocation of SHIP funds in the estimated total amount of $1,758,650.00, for Fiscal Year 2016-2017; and WHEREAS, the City administration recommends the acceptance of SHIP funds, in an amount no less than $1,758,650.00 for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of SHIP funds, in an amount no less than $1,758,650.00 for Fiscal Year 2016-2017, for the strategies under the current SHIP LHAP, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1 } to execute the necessary documents to implement acceptance of said funds. Section 4. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
