Dade County
■ Existing traffic along corridor varies from 32,700
vehicles per day (vpd) to 68,700 vpd.
■ Bus route 40 is the main route along corridor with
average weekday ridership of 2,115 passengers
■ Corridor issues identified:
• Congestion at major intersections
• Access management and safety concerns
• High off-peak vehicular speeds
• Lack of adequate transit facilities
• Reliability of MDT Transit Route 40
• Lack of bicycle facilities and connections to trails
and recreational facilities
• Pedestrian crossing concerns across Bird Road
• Safe crossing concerns for Coral Gables High
