The Commission on the Status of Women was created to serve in an advisory capacity to the City
Commission, including advising on any possible barrier which may impede the participation of women in
City sponsored programs and activities; to work toward legislation granting women equality before the law;
to inspire in women the desire for self-improvement and pride of being, regardless of age, marital status,
race, color or creed; to seek for every woman the opportunities equal to her potential and responsibility; to
seek opportunities for and to encourage the active involvement of women in matters pertaining to
community progress; to encourage capable women in roles of leadership.
Seven (7) appointments are needed at this time.
Mayor Tomas Regalado has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Allyson Warren, incumbent, whose term expires on March 12, 2016, has served as a member
since July 14, 1998, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5) vote of the
Commission.
Chair Keon Hardemon has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Samaiyah Engram, incumbent, whose term expired on April 10, 2015, has exceeded the
number of allowed absences (4 in 2015 and 5 in 2014), and will require a 4/5ths waiver of
attendance!
2. Constance Gilbert, incumbent, whose term expired on March 13, 2015, has exceed the
number of allowed consecutive absences (3 in 2014), and will require a 4/5ths waiver of
attendance.t
• Vice Chair Ken Russell has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:
1. Vacant. (Barbara Marquez resigned effective January 29, 2014)1
• Commissioner Frank Carollo has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:
1. Vacant. (Margarita Fernandez resigned effective October 23, 2014)§

Commissioner Francis Suarez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Connie Johnson, incumbent, whose term expires on March 12, 2016.
2. Lyse Cuellar -Vidal, incumbent, whose term expires on March 12, 2016, has served as a
member since March 11, 2006, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (515) vote of
the Commission.
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this
memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the March 11, 2016,
Commission agenda.
