Atkinson on March 26, 1937. "This Association shall have for its object the welfare and conduct of its members, the regulation and adjustment of matters pertaining to and affecting its members; the promotion of efficiency in the Police Department; the promotion of confidence, cooperation, harmony, friendly and social relations among its members, as well as the general public and all public officials." Since our inception the Miami Police Benevolent Association has worked with underprivileged children and we donate to charitable organizations such as Do The Right Things, Miami Police Honor Guard, Miami Police Explorers, Miami PAL, Easter Seals, City Church Higher Ground Culinary Program located in Allapattah (which teaches inner-city kids culinary skills), Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Surgical. Unit, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Christy House, Women's Fund, and hosted the Never Quit Challenge for disabled veterans in. Miami to name a few over recent years. The Miami PBA bought our property in 1940 and created a Children's park with rides targeting underprivileged children. In 2007 we sold 6 acres to the City of Miami for a park and we kept 2 acres. We are currently renovating the 2 acres we kept and building n new Museum/Historical/Office building where we will have sufficient space to memorialize the hard work of the officers and civilians of the Miami Police Department. We will have digital displays of over 5,000 photos of the Miami Police Department and it's personnel along with other memorabilia. The gallery has space for three police cars, three motorcycles and a 3 wheeler police motorcycle. It. is our intention to display the City donated police car in this area along with a 1966 Plymouth Police Car and a 1976 Harley Davidson Miami Police Motorcycle. It is also hoped that we can have these vehicles participate in community events such as the Miami Police Mounted Display on Cultural Friday last month where we had the old motorcycle. Hope this helps. Please let me know when this is put on the agenda. Thank you, Joe Longueira Joseph T.
