On Feb. 3, 2015, the Miami -Dade County Grand Jury filed a report entitled "CRAB: The Good, the Bad and the
Questionable." This report makes inaccurate claims and comprehensively misrepresents the mission of Florida's
Community Redevelopment Agencies. However, it does mention the FRA as the trusted resource for education
and best practice information, so we are hopeful people will contact us for follow up information.
Of course, it has spurred some local negative discussions surrounding CRAB. We have developed a messaging
guide to respond to the issues raised in the report. We encourage you as an FRA member to use these points
in responding to inquiries, discussions and/or criticisms of your CRA or CRAS in general. You may incorporate
these messages in your own op-ed (600 words) or letter to the editor (150-200 words) with local examples of
success, to inform about the true role and responsibilities of CRAB.
