HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationFile Number: 15-01515 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-82(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, CLASSIFYING TEN (10) FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE INTERCEPTORS, RANGING IN MODEL YEAR FROM 2003 to 2008, AND THREE (3) FORD TAURUS SEDANS, RANGING IN MODEL YEAR FROM 2005 to 2007, AS DESCRIBED IN "ATTACHMENT A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, AS CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK; AND DONATING SAID VEHICLES TO THE CITY OF SWEETWATER, UPON THE EXECUTION OF THE APPROPRIATE RELEASE DOCUMENTS. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Department of General Services Administration ("GSA") decommissioned ten (10) Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors, ranging in model year from 2003 to 2008, and three (3) Ford Taurus Sedans, ranging in model year from 2005 to 2007, as described in "Attachment A", attached and incorporated; and WHEREAS, the City's Chief Procurement Officer has declared the vehicles as surplus; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), a surplus declared as Category "A" stock shall be available for disposition as the City's contribution or the City's commitment in support of a particular public purpose, which may include community, civic, or social service programs as may be authorized by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the City of Sweetwater ("Sweetwater") is a neighboring city in Miami -Dade County, Florida, serving its residents; and WHEREAS, Sweetwater has its own Police Department, however some of their vehicles are over 15 years old and are not in the condition to provide professional Law enforcement services; and WHEREAS, Sweetwater is in a current state of financial emergency and is in dire need of replacing their current fleet with said donated vehicles; and WHEREAS, the City, by donating said vehicles, will assist in crime prevention not only in Sweetwater, but also Miami -Dade County in general, which includes the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION Of THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1, The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Section 3. The ten (10) Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors and three (3) Ford Taurus Sedans, are donated to Sweetwater, upon the execution of the appropriate release documents. Section 4, This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: vict,bRIA MENbEZ CITY ATTORNEY. Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
