Guys is planning,
How many letters and emails do we need to send you before we get the curtesy of a reply? We can see on
the city website that you approved a few warrants on 1/20 but not this one, as it appears on your
spreadsheet that it was skipped over. To what end may i ask?? This is an important issue to all of the
surrounding property owners and local neighborhood associations. You have now multiple letters and
communications that are all in opposition to this warrant application. When will we have an audience or
are you going to deny this application or are you just going to blow us over approving this? If you are
approving this warrant application have no doubt that we will be appealing it. In anticipation of your reply.

Derrick and Rafael,
Please see attached letters in opposition to the approval of the Application for Warrant of the Self -
Storage Facility at 5609 NE 2nd Avenue. Included is a letter from the Little River Business District
Board of which I am the Chairman and the Northeast Second Avenue Partnership of which I am on
the Board. Also included are letters from various stakeholders and abutting property owners against
the approval of this Warrant with additional letters in opposition to follow. Please be advised that
we began sending letters in opposition to the Director of Planning and Zoning last week and have
not heard back.
We have been given the impression that although this Warrant has not been formally approved yet
that it is only a matter of time until it is. Myself and other stakeholders, including those directly
abutting the development insist upon a meeting and consulting with all decision makers on this
application, including the Director of Planning and Zoning Director Francisco Garcia prior to the
decision being made. Please be aware that we have seen the plans and that we are ready to appeal
this Warrant should it be approved.
We are very disturbed that this application has the potential to be approved, let alone even
considered on the Northeast 2nd Avenue commercial corridor. This is in fact in the heart of the
Lemon City/Little Haiti French Creole Cultural Arts and Entertainment District and a use that is a far
cry from the intent of the legislation creating said District. A five story, self -storage facility with
nothing more than a faux retail space along NE 2nd Avenue runs counter to the tenants of sound
planning principles and Miami 21 and has no place along such a commercial corridor.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you as to when we can sit down with the decision
makers regarding this application.
