HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationFile Number: 15-00971 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING TWENTY-THREE (23) SCHOLARSHIPS TO ATTEND AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION OR TO OBTAIN A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3,000.00 PER SCHOLARSHIP, FOR THE FOLLOWING ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: DIANA JULES, SIDNESHA HOLLAND, KHALIL LEWIS, JAMESE BROWN, AMANDA QUINTANA, JONATHAN DUARTE, MARCHAE GLENN, HENDRICK TOUSSAINT, SHERICA SMITH, MONICA JOHNSON, BRANDIE PERRY, VANESSA FRIAS, PAULA MEDINO, ANGELO PERRY, VALBRUN FILS-AIME, JOYCE GADSON, ALEX BLANDON, ANESTIN ETIENNE, ODALYS MACIAS, OLGA MATIAS, JOSEPH MILCENT, SCOTTY ROGERS AND ZANDRAS SPIVEY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO DISBURSE THE SCHOLARSHIPS WITH THE PRESENTATION OF SATISFACTORY DOCUMENTATION FROM THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OR VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE AND CITYATTORNEY; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED, "SOLID WASTE RECYCLING EDUCATIONAL TRUST FUND," ACCOUNT CODE NUMBER 13100.212000.549000.0000.00000. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Twenty -Three (23) scholarships, for a total amount not to exceed $58,500,00, are approved, as the amount for the current Solid Waste Recycling Program Scholarship for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year, for each of the following: City Employee Amount Children or Legal Dependent Amount Paula Medino 3,000.00 Diana Jules 3,000.00 Angelo Perry 3,000.00 Sidnesha Holland 3,000.00 Valbrun Fils-Aime 3,000.00 Khalil Lewis 3,000.00 Joyce Gadson 3,000.00 Jamese Brown 3,000.00 Alex Blandon 1,500.00 Amanda Quintana 3,000.00 Anestin Etienne 1,500.00 Jonathon Duarte 3,000.00 Odalys Macias 1,500.00 Marchae Glenn 3,000.00 Olga Matias 1,500.00 Hendrick Toussaint 3,000.00 Joseph Milcent 1,500.00 Sherica Smith 3,000.00 Scotty Rogers 1,500.00 Monica Johnson 3,000.00 Zandras Spivey 1,500.00 Brandie Perry 3,000.00 Vanessa Frias 3,000.00 Total 22,500.00 36,000.00 Section 3. The recommendation of the Director of Solid Waste and the work of the Solid Waste Recycling Educational Selection Committee is acknowledged. Section 4. The City Manager or designee is. authorized f 1 to disburse each of these twenty-three (23) scholarships with the presentation of satisfactory documentation from the educational institution or vocational program. The City Manager or designee is authorized {1) to execute all documents necessary for said purpose, in a form acceptable to the City Manager or designee, and the City Attorney. Section 6. Funds for said scholarships are to be allocated from Special Revenue Fund entitled "Solid Waste Recycling Educational Trust Fund," Account Code Number 13100.212000.549000.0000.00000. Section 7. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2) APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: VICTORIA MEND CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1) The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. (2) If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of the ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
