WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application to the Florida Department of Transportation (TDOT") to fund highway safety initiatives in the City; and WHEREAS, the City received notification that said application was approved for funding in an amount not to exceed $80,000.00 ("Grant"); and WHEREAS, the Grant will be used by the Miami Police Department to fund monthly Driving Under the Influence ("DUI") checkpoint operations and saturation patrols to prevent impaired driving related traffic crashes and fatalities in the City and enhance the City's enforcement efforts and deterrence capabilities; and WHEREAS, there are no match funds required for acceptance of this Grant; and WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authorization to accept the Grant and to establish a new Special Revenue Project for the appropriation of said award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: FY 2018 Miami DUI Checkpoint and Saturation Patrol Overtime Project RESOURCES: FDOT $80,000.00 APPROPRIATIONS: Highway Safety $80,000.00 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to accept said Grant and execute the necessary documents, in substantially the attached form, to implement acceptance of said Grant. Section 4. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
