HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-88-0032J-88-60 owl 12/29/87 C RESOLUTION NO. 884-32 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE 29TH ANNUAL ARTIST'S DAYS TO BE HELD BY VIZCAYA MUSEUM AND GARDENS ON FEBRUARY 20-21, 1988, PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; CONDITIONED UPON THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE CITY WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY AND UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND FEES. WHEREAS, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens will conduct the 29th Annual Artist's Days Art Festival on February 20-21, 1988; and WHEREAS, certain streets shall be closed to through vehicular traffic during specified dates and hours to insure the safety of the participants and pedestrians attending this event; and WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County Public Safety Department in conjunction with the Vizcaya Museum and Garden's security patrol will handle traffic detail in connection with this event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the 29th Annual Artist's Days Festival to be conducted by Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 4:00 A.M. February 20 to 10:00 P.M. February 21, 1988 as specified below: Southern - Eastbound Lane of S.W. 32nd Road from U.S. 1 to South Miami Avenue Northern - Westbound Lane of S.W. 32nd Road shall remain open to residential traffic Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, was and tho-roughtares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in t is Section. Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fi CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF BAN 14 1988 )N No. IRS-3 i and Inspection Services; said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 3. Such closing of streets is hereby subject to the organizers obtaining insurance requirements as mandated by the City of Miami and paying for all necessary costs of City services and fees. Od City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE JAN 51988 VILE: SUBJECT: Resolution Concerning the Annual Artist's Days Art Festival at Vizcaya REFERENCES: Commission Agenda Item ENCLOSURE.January 14, 1988 It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing certain street closures for the 29th Annual Artist's Days art festival to be conducted February 20- 21 by the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The street closures for this event are subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services and conditioned upon the organizers paying for the cost of City services and fees. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation for certain street closures in connection with the 29th Annual Artist's Days art festival to be conducted by Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Metro -Dade County Parks and Recreation Department, on February 20-21, 1988. This event will feature over 200 artists and is expected to attract over 10,000 people to the Vizcaya area. The Public Safety Department of Metropolitan Dade County will provide security and handle traffic detail for this event. Attachment: (1) Proposed Resolution 88-:32
