A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR
HIS DESIGNEE, TO DECLARE TWELVE (12) SURPLUS
CITY VEHICLES AS CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK,
AND DONATING THE SAME TO THE SUB -COUNCIL FOR
CRIME PREVENTION IN LITTLE HAVANA, AN
ORGANIZATION AFFILIATED WITH THE NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION FOR CRIME PREVENTION, SAID
VEHICLES TO BE USED BY THE SUB -COUNCIL FOR
CRIME PREVENTION IN LITTLE HAVANA TO ASSIST
THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ITS
EFFORTS TOWARD DETERRING CRIME.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department has need for
assistance in its efforts to deter crime; and
WHEREAS, the Sub -Council for Crime Prevention in Little
Havana, an organization affiliated with the National Association
for Crime Prevention, is a nonprofit organization that assists
the Miami Police Department in its efforts toward deterring
crime; and
WHEREAS, the Sub -Council for Crime Prevention in Little
Havana is in need of vehicles to be used in its efforts toward
deterring crime; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has surplus vehicles that could
be used for just such a purpose; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission passed Motion 87-1042 on
November 19, 1987 granting the request received from the Sub -
Council for Crime Prevention in Little Havana for the donation of
twelve (12) City of Miami surplus vehicles;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager, or his designee, be
authorized to declare twelve (12) surplus City vehicles as
Category "A" Stock; as stipulated in section 18-51.4 of the Code
of the City of Miami, Florida.

REMARKS:
Section 2. That said twelve (12) Category "A" surplus
City vehicles be donated to the Sub -Council for Crime Prevention
in Little Havana, an organization affiliated with the National
Association for Crime Prevention, a nonprofit organization, to be
used to assist the Miami Police Department in its effort toward
deterring crime.

SUBJECT: Resolution Donating Twelve
Surplus City Vehicles to
Sub -Council for Crime

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to declare
twelve (12) surplus City vehicles as Category "A" Stock and
donating the same to the Sub -Council for Crime Prevention of
Little Havana, an organization affiliated with the National
Association for Crime Prevention, a non-profit organization.
BACKGROUND:
The General Services Administration Department has reviewed, with
the Law Department, the action of the City Commission on November
19, 1987, when Motion 87-1042 was passed, and the actions taken
are being formalized in the attached proposed Resolution. The
Sub -Council for Crime Prevention in Little Havana, an
organization affiliated with the National Association for Crime
Prevention, a nonprofit organization, assists the Miami Police
Department in its efforts to deter crime and is in need of
vehicles to be used for just such a purpose.
