Resolution
No. 84-85-112
It is respectfully recommended that a resolution be passed
extending the existing contract for veterinary services with
Knowles Animal Hospital in the amount of $7,475, and Dr. Richard

BACKGROUND:
The Police Department continues to utilize the Mounted Patrol and
- K-9 Units to represent integral components of the Department's
law enforcement and crime prevention program. The Mounted patrol
provides for an effective and visible police presence in eight
areas of the City of Miami. The K-9 Unit serves the entire City
and has been most successful in such areas as robbery an drug
smuggling investigations, as well as providing protection for our
police officers.

worming, vaccination and pre -exam for new horses.
The Knowles Animal Hospital provides an indoor/outdoor kennel,
up-to-date worming, vaccination, and emergency services for the
K-9 dogs.
It is, therefore, recommended that an extension of the contract
for veterinary services with Knowles Animal Hospital, and Dr.
Richard S. Templeton be approved through September 30, 1988. The
funding source will be $11,700, from the Fiscal Year 1987-88
Police Operating Budget, Index Code 290201-260.
