RESOLUTION NO. 72- & 3 •
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR
OF FINANCE TO PAY TO HERBERT T. HANKS,
WITHOUT THE ADMISSION OF LIABILITY, THE
SUM OF $350.00 IN FULL AND COMPLETE
SETTLEMENT OF HIS CLAIM AGAINST THE
CITY OF MIAMI AND WILLIE JAMES GORDON,
A CITY POLICE OFFICER, FOR ALLEGED
DAMAGES AND PERSONAL INJURIES SUSTAINED
BY HIM, UPON THE EXECUTION OF A RELEASE
RELEASING THE CITY OF MIAMI AND ITS
POLICE OFFICER FROM ALL CLAIMS AND DEMANDS.
WHEREAS, the plaintiff, Herbert T. Hanks, filed an
action against the City of Miami and a City police officer in
the Circuit Court of Dade County bearing Number 70-1744, alleg-
ing that torts were committed against him on or about February 1,
1969; and
WHEREAS, this claim has been investigated by the
Office of the City Attorney and said office recommends this
claim be settled for the sum of $350.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Director of Finance be and he is
hereby directed to pay to Herbert T. Hanks, without the admission
of liability, the sum of $350.00 in full and complete settlement
of his claim against the City of Miami and Willie James Gordon,
a City police officer, for alleged damages and personal injuries
sustained by him, upon the execution of a release releasing the
City of Miami and its police officer from all claims and demands.
PASSED AND ADOPTED thiEfday of May, 1972.
