A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF
FINANCE TO PAY TO EDMUND G. MAYHALL, SUR-
VIVING FATHER OF JOHN MAYHALL, A DECEASED
MINOR, AND HIS ATTORNEYS, THE SUM OF
$100,000 AS THE PORTION TO BE PAID BY THE
CITY OF MIAMI IN FULL AND COMPLETE SATIS-
FACTION OF A JUDGMENT ENTERED IN THE UNITED
STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE SOUTHERN
DISTRICT OF FLORIDA, IN FAVOR OF EDMUND G.
MAYHALL AND AGAINST THE CITY OF MIAMI.
WHEREAS, in the caset:of Edmund G. Mayhall, surviving
father of John Mayhall, a deceased minor, Plaintiff, versus
the City of Miami, Florida, a municipal corporation, and
Arthur L. Dragon, Defendants, a judgment was entered in
favor of the Plaintiff and against the Defendants in the
amount of $252,237.60 by the United States District Court
for the Southern District of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has a policy of insurance
which covers the amount of this judgment in excess of
$100,000; and
WHEREAS, the portion therefore owed by the City in this
judgment is in the amount of $100,000; and
WHEREAS, the insurance carrier for the City of Miami
has urged that the judgment be satisfied to effect a saving
on interest and has agreed to pay the portion owed by the
insurance carrier on the judgment; and
WHEREAS, it is advantageous for the City of Miami to
pay its portion owed on the judgment to effect a savings and
to avoid the running of interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The Director of Finance of the City of
Miami be, and he is hereby directed to pay to Edmund G.
Mayhall, surviving father of John Mayhall, a deceased minor,
and his attorneys, the sum of $100,000 in order that the
judgment entered in the United States District Court for the
Southern District of Florida in favor of Edmund G. Mayhall
and against the City of Miami may be satisfied.
