April 11, 1972
My recent appointment to the Metropolitan
Board of Commissioners and my acceptance of
this high honor, requires a declaration from
m.e as to my intentions as regards your august
body and continued membership thereon. There-
fore as a,natural concomitant action.please
accept my resignation here tendered from the
Commission of the City of Miami and•as your
Vice Mayor, effective as of today's date.
I wish to state that while there was nothing
coercive about my leaving, I want you to know
that the rapport I enjoyed with the Commis-
sion; the deference accorded me as a Man of
the Cloth, especially true in the case of
Mayor Kennedy, make it extremely difficult
for me to sever such excellent relationships.
I pledge myself here and now to work side by
side with you to the end that the objective
which we envision together be successfully
reached.
